Top 10 Young 2009 Athletes and PED’s

There are many young and talented athletes that are just making a name for themselves so it seems like an interesting time to ponder… which of these gentlemen would you be most surprised to find out was using performance enhancing drugs (PED’s). Note, we are not implying that any of these fine athletes are taking anything stronger than an asprin (if that), but who might we be talking about in 10 years. We took a small survey and these were the results. In the order of most surprising to least surprising…

1. Anthony Kim – He is 23 years old and a top 10 ranked golfer on the PGA tour. Nobody would even imagine that Kim or any other golfer on the PGA tour would be using PED’s. I am not sure why, but that is one sport where PED’s do not seem to be an issue at all.
2. Jay Bruce – He is also a 20 year old star for the Cincinnati Reds in major league baseball. He has the potential to easily hit 30 homers and 100 RBI’s for the next 10 years. He also seems to be a natural gritty player that would not be associated with PED’s.
3. Kevin Durant – He is 20 years old and no doubt a budding NBA superstar for the Okalahoma City Thunder. He has an amazing amount of natural talent and is on his way to being one of the top scorers in the NBA. It seems that most people would be shocked to hear his name associated with performance enhancing drugs in the next 10 years.
4. Rajan Rondo – He is the point guard for the Boston Celtics and has great speed and agility. He is going to be the natural leader of the team soon with a great sense of offense and the ability to dish out assists like no other. Just like the first two, nobody thought he could be using PED’s.
5. Phil Kessel – Star forward for the Boston Bruins and former testicle cancer surviver. He truly has an amazing story and is an insipration to all of us. No chance that anyone thinks he is using PED’s. He just keeps getting better and better with each year with 2009 ending up better than his first two seasons.
6. Alexandre Pato – He is simply known as Pato and is only 19 years yound! He is the latest in the long line of Brzilian soccer superstars. He is an amazing talent and also very unlikely to be using PED’s.
7. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie – He goes by DRC for short and is the young cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL. He is coming off another amazing season and shows flashes of brilliance. He is going to be someone to watch. Like all of the other NFL players on the list, he got votes from our panel.
8. Devin Harris – He is another amazing NBA point guard that was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the New Jersey Nets for Jason Kidd. He is already a better player with more upside that Jason Kidd. He is lean and mean and on his way, but he also got some votes from our panel.
9. Calvin Johnson – He is one of the best receivers in the NFL and plays for the Detroit Lions. It’s hard to imagine what this young man could do on a better team with a top quality quarterback. He is definitely a superstar and given the sport he is in, he did get some votes from the panel for potential PED use.
10. Jon Jones – Jones is one of the best young fighters in the UFC’s competitive light-heavyweight division. He is in amazing shape and most likely due to the sport that he competes in he was voted as the most likely to be using PED’s either now or at some point in his career. Who knows whether or not that will end up being true.

Hopefully none of these fine professional athletes will ever tarnish their names by getting caught with performance enhancing drugs. They certainly all seem to have amazing potential and natural talent. They could no doubt enjoy the benefits of vitamins and nutrition without ever needing to go near PED’s.
